(no subject)

monday the insurance company was taking a holiday (a state holiday. not sure which one) while the bed dad was waiting for was filled, and tuesday another opened up and they told us at 1 pm they'd be shipping daddy out this morning at 9. so we had three hours to pack and return a borrowed car and i drove us home last night. apparently you're supposed to move around every two hours while you're driving. four and a half was definitely painful for my ass, but here i am, and my dog has been returned to me and everything. i'm realizing the most appalling things, like i don't know how to run the dishwasher. i started cleaning the refridgerator. i'm going to have to buy something to clean the floor.

industrial-strength (size?) thank you note

thanks to everyone who has contacted me since, you know, Tragedy Struck, and offered sympathy and things. it all means more than i can say, which is why saying 'thank you' individually is an awkward and daunting thing.

if you've seen one, you've seen them all.

i want to be, like, the fairy of caustic aesthetic commentary, hopping all over lj and simply commenting with letter grades for people's icons. 'a for extraordinarily fascinating lines of composition. a- for failing to remove distracting extraneous material which detracts from the impact of the diagonal motion.' 'c-. striking composition unconscionably spoilt by poor use of color.' 'f. boring and visually repulsive.'

i have just sustained a considerable shock.

actual quote from an author's notes:

bet you didn't know holmes's famous catch-phrase about the game* came from shakespeare!

*'the game's afoot.'

my god, what if there really are whole hordes of people out there who recognize that from sherlock holmes and not from shakespeare?
