cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (drama)

oooh! kerfluffle!

i ran across a funneh (and not badly-written, overall) story by uluithiel which was remarkable only in that, in between the cute snoggy domlijahness, there were thrown bits of tinhat canon.* possibly this has just never happened to me before because, like, i stopped reading in the fandom a while ago. or maybe it really IS unusual. i posted a link and snip to dl_anon and... (surprise, surprise!)... kerfluffle ensued! (you have to scroll down a bit.)

*ex: [johnny depp's pov]: It's well known that he and Elijah Wood are longtime partners - an old married couple - and Elijah is renowned in Hollywood for being a homebody, almost a fucking Garbo for Christ's sake.

somebody send over some marshmallows, and we'll roast 'em when i get back from the movies. ta!

hi. being an idiot. what exactly is "tinhat canon"?

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2003-08-24 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
ah. it's like the canon of a fandom, only the tinhats aren't a fandom, but a sort of clique of very hard-core domlijah true believers.

they believe that dom and elijah are in a committed, long-term relationship; that this is an open secret in hollywood known by anyone connected to the industry; that they want to come out of the closet; that the new line PR department won't let them come out because that would be bad for the lotr franchise; that this PR department has gone to a lot of trouble including hiring thugs, paying off/pressuring media outlets, and talking sean astin and ian mckellen into helping with the cover-up; and that sean astin is fun kinds of disturbed and probably needs help (that last is less common and a lot more controversial, but still crops up with disquieting frequency).

more is at sanity, please. (http://sanityplease.diversesouls.com/)
