i don't think my toll house cookies have ever come out so well before.  i guess it's... i think it's that i added the baking soda dry to the dry mixture before mixing it with the eggs-butter-sugar, instead of fizzing it up in hot water and pouring it in wet like the fannie farmer baking book says.  huh.  who knew laziness was the key?  but i've made a double batch.  the plan was, one with chocolate chunks and one with m&m's smarties, but smarties (they don't have m&m's at all) are quite unpopular in finland and we didn't find any, and as i told wax, trekking all over for sweatpants is bad enough; i refuse to trek all over for a specific type of candy.

slash party in an hour and i'm going to be a tad late because i've still got two batches that have to come out of the oven.  see y'all soon though.

What are toll house cookies?

they're the original chocolate chip cookies. they were invented a long time ago by a woman who ran an inn called the toll house inn. nestlé bought the recipe later and they market them as "nestlé toll house cookies", but the cookies were rather renowned before them.
