gary was surprised to run into tim. there was immediate physical attraction, but he didn't know how to act on it. it was fairly clear to him from the beginning, though, that he did want to act on it. he was quite nervous about making the first step. he wanted to play it cool. he wanted to show tim who has the self-control around here. also, he felt a little silly about the whole writing-on-body thing (even though he was macho enough to write on his manly!bicep!omg, not on his face). he drank quite a bit to get his courage up. he hadn't quite figured out why it was such a Big Thing with tim.
