Yuletide recs #2: Die Hard

The most promising new fandom this year - fairly productive overall and even more productive at Yuletide!

  • Nearly Indestructable. A fantastical au reimagining of the whole movie turned on its head with Matt an undercover spy. Great fun and fast-paced, and sort-of preserves characterisation in a fascinating way. And the dynamic of Matt's attraction to John, and the saving, is sort of inside-out too...

  • No Sleep Til Brooklyn. Matt's POV just post-movie, this one introduces a much more serious knee injury than is usually postulated and with the vivid pain and angst associated, makes itself rather grittier than the fandom norm. Really good. And refreshing, too; with the angst, you see a bit more of Matt.

  • Upgrade. Matt wants to install Linux on John's computer. LINUX. and John McClane! Ahahhahahahahahha.

And here's a non-Yuletide bonus I read yesterday:

Epiphany by [livejournal.com profile] healingmirth, a classic 12 Days of Christmas clichéfic with an amusing and awesome beginning. A bit rushed towards the end, though.

dec 08 - Marre & Leena's Christmas present cim & wax klättrar i trädet

Our Pulp Fiction Uma was temporarily keeping the place warm above the couch despite clashing with the décor because... she couldn't be hung up yet in the other room. But for Christmas we got this poster-sized photo that Brother Linux took a few years ago and it harmonizes beautifully with our sofa! So we are now the sort of people that hang a giant Stupid Couple Picture up as their livingroom art. Look, it's ironic, okay?
