HOLY COW

i just got email from my dad:

"One of the teachers at mom's school was shot and killed in a barroom fight in Greensboro.  It was, according to the rumor I heard, over an insult given to his wife and he pulled a gun out of his car as did the other guy.  Both are dead.  Details have not been released but it's obviously a sad waste.  He was pretty young and I think the other guy was too."

and this is why guns are bad, people.

Good lord. What kind of teacher carries a gun. :( I feel awful for his wife, family, and students.

heh, actually, your question reminds me of the Gun Control Doesn't Control Guns, Just Telling People Not To Shoot Them Controls Guns Student Teacher. this was a hick student teacher we had in history my junior year of high school, and besides being a bad teacher, he made a place for himself forever in my memory the day he explained to us how gun control is unnecessary and insulting to gun owners and also, totally ineffective, and the way you're supposed to control guns is to just tell tiny little children not to fire them except, of course, outside when you are shooting at animals. because tiny little children who grow up in hunting families know all about guns! for example, he said, in his family they leave loaded rifles lying around in the reach of his four-year-old niece all the time, because they know she understands gun safety. it is perfectly safe to leave that gun on the table and wander around preparing food and taking a shower, as long as you have explained to your four-year-old in advance that guns are not to be fired inside the house!
