closing in on 'the other half of his soul' here

This [flocked] story just referred to a person as 'his miracle'. (Not as bad as 'the other half of his soul', okay, but way worse than 'his lover'.)

His miracle moved closer to him without turning around, making himself comfortable and warm.

Wait... what?

No, I think it's worse than the other half of his soul. Though they're both pretty cringeworthy.

I think I agree with Grace, though I couldn't quite say why. Maybe it's because "the other half of his soul" requires only that one think in tired cliches, whereas "his miracle" is the special kitsch.

Sadly, I sat here for several minutes before posting my comment trying to think of a reason why it seemed worse to me and I couldn't really come up with anything. It just did. I think you may have hit on it, though. Maybe I'm just numbed to the horror that is "the other half of his soul".
