cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (you know what)

slashy annotated scenes from "shore leave", 1x17

kirk turns on the come-hither look at spock full-blast in the first scene of this episode, and that's not even the most suggestive :ahem: part of this scene.
SPOCK moves to behind KIRK's command chair, resting his hand on the back of it.

KIRK: anything from the landing party?
SPOCK: they should be sending up a report momentarily, captain.
KIRK finishes with a data pad, hands it to his yeoman and starts to sit up, but then he stops, wincing and groaning.

SPOCK: something wrong?

KIRK: a kink in my back.

the yeoman moves behind the chair and reaches down to press against his spine for him.
KIRK: no--that's it--no--a little higher, please.

SPOCK watches the proceedings this far, hands clasped behind his back, and raises his eyebrows.

KIRK: push. push harderdig it in there, mr s--

SPOCK steps down and moves around the chair and KIRK catches sight of him and cuts off, watching SPOCK from the corner of his eye.

KIRK: --thank you, yeoman, that's sufficient.

KIRK and SPOCK exchange a look, and SPOCK glances away again, but KIRK keeps watching him.

spock proves that while they may be incapable of lying, vulcans can definitely be tricksy buggers.
KIRK is leaning on the wall, massaging the back of his neck with one hand and looking up under his lashes at SPOCK, speaking a little tiredly.

KIRK: that's a mccoy pill.  a little... mystery-sugar-coating.  he wants to get me down there, afraid i won't swallow it.

SPOCK: very well, captain. there's something i did come to discuss.
KIRK looks up and straightens.
KIRK: yes, uh... mr spock.  what is it?
SPOCK: i picked this up from dr mccoy's log.  we have a crewmember aboard who's showing signs of stress and fatigue--reaction time down nine to twelve percent, associational rating norm minus three.

KIRK, frowning: that's much too low a rating.
SPOCK: he's becoming irritable and quarrelsome, yet he refuses to take rest and rehabilitation.
KIRK, listening with hands behind back and a frown: m-hm.

SPOCK: now, he has that right--but--we found--
KIRK: well, the crewman's right ends where the safety of the ship begins.  now, that man will go ashore on my orders.  what's his name?
SPOCK keeps his eyes fixed on the data padd as he speaks.
SPOCK: ... james kirk.

SPOCK glances up, raising his eyebrows innocently, at KIRK's deliberatly expressionless face.  KIRK doesn't say anything, but SPOCK smiles warmly and only a little smugly.

SPOCK: enjoy yourself, captain.

KIRK narrows his eyes.
SPOCK: it's an interesting planet; i believe you'll find it quite pleasant, very much like your earth.

KIRK's eyes are still narrow, but he starts to smile.

dialogue-free: kirk and spock flee from a tiger and then a fighter plane and then a samurai (you kinda have to see the episode).

bonus!

there's a nice slash story based on this episode: fancy's hot fire by jungle kitty, nc-17. (eta that, heh, re-reading it now, it's... kind of silly, especially some prose verging on the violet. but still worth reading.)

in other news, i am fidgety. someone come online and entertain me.

Have you checked out JK's Trek palmcast? Some slashy babble, some hetty babble, some sex toy talk, some complaining about Takei still complaining...

thank you, i haven't, and will save it for my fidgety period tomorrow. :) some day i'm going to read takei's autobiography and laugh a lot. even the little excerpts of him in the shatner and nimoy books that i totally didn't buy with an eye to writing shatner/nimoy slash are hilarious.
