I grew up in Alabama, where no "winter" shoes were necessary, and wore my Birkenstock clogs a lot in spring and summer (well, actually, winter too. If it wasn't raining), and flip-flops a lot in the summer (not if I would be standing or walking of course). But, yeah, I would buy some Birkenstock sandals if the summer here was actually hot, but as it is, there's really no need for summer shoes. And for most of the winter I have no opportunity to wear anything but my winter boots, which are currently rose-embroidered 14-hole Doc Martens. Rain galoshes are also a must in the Finnish climate.
