It's a worthwhile hope, I guess. Sometimes characters can come off quite different from one version to another! I think I do like her a bit better, although she's even more annoying, because at least it's clear that she's a spoiled brat in this one - instead of the versions that forget her youth and make her way more sophisticated and thoughtful with the effect that she appears to be an asshole entirely premeditatedly, and to feel little remorse for it at all. The problem with this one, for me, is that it riffs on "spoiled brat" by adding a whole new dimension to her spoiledness with the eyerolls and the tones of voice, so she actually is acting out onscreen in some major tantrums which are way more offputting when they're so loud and obnoxious as here (this is my sister at age, say, 15 to a T. Ugh, I hate that refuse-to-grow-up-I'm-a-baby-princess syndrome) than when they are slightly restrained, as I like to imagine when I read the book.
