I can't take a lie detector about what I was and was not taught for the most part, since my teacher's main approach to the Civil War - besides making us do a group RPG - was memorizing lists of dates and battles and how many died where, in what order, without much in the way of a connecting narrative, let alone this gripping political struggle. I'd have remembered [more of] this.
