Yeah, I probably could've just marked them as spam and/or blocked the senders, with gmail. Which is great because some spam sources will have an unsubscribe button but they still send you spam after you unsubscribe. But the idea of someone signing me up for these sites as a prank was so WEIRD that it sparked my curiosity and led to discovering the even-weirder truth.
