I thought you were, but looking at her post again I'm not entirely sure the extent to which she means it as a shortcut. But also I've just read a post on Tumblr arguing that he's actually even kinder in the book because there are some lines revealing details of his compassion or kindness that were cut, so possibly I had a few surplus points swirling around in my head about it.

And also that is kind of the point I wanted to expand on myself.
