Well, there's actually a recent invention that I really like for socks and sleeves - triple needles or flexible sock needles, the first example being Addi Crazy Trios (there are imitators). I have those in all the sizes I usually make socks and 4mm which is my most frequent for sweaters. I find them a huge benefit, but this sweater is 5mm and I didn't buy any in advance.
