la la la la la la la la
i realized that probably the biggest problem (and block) with my original novel is that i've been trying to make it too complicated.
we're talking probably not more than half again as long as my magnum opii in the lotr rps fandom (which for some reason attracts length)(tennessee, burn and delirium). i can't have a plot five times as complicated with only a little bit more length. i need to think of this novel the way i think of novellettes and novellas, just slightly longer. in two or three movements, perhaps.
i suppose trying to draw from a myth with an established plot in the first place has gotten in the way of that, and the fact that my idea for it is significantly more plotty than the stories i usually write, which are very cerebral and emotional, the majority of the 'action' occuring in the consciousness of the protagonist. the plot's like a tentacled monster, gobbling up my character with all these time-shifts and breaking the stream of consciousness.
