saw a german film, nowhere in africa, in the silver screen series at the theatre where plays are usually held in town. it was good, so, so, so, so good.

saw a preview for a french one called swimming pool (in english--but rachel says it's a french film) that i'm dying to see. the preview was very lesbian subtexty.

the odds of this ever making it here if i don't buy it, however, are infinitesimal.

ooh, ringing in my ear. hmm.

The one (v/snooty review) I read of Nowhere In Africa was all, 'well, tsk, it's not all that' but I have a feeling it's because it beat our Aki's movie to the Academy Award. Reviewers are totally not above feeling petty, I suspect.

I have seen Swimming Pool and it is, in fact, very subtexty. Nothing explicit, but it frigging buzzes. And a great film to boot. A must-see, really.
