random potc thought

i really love norrington, but jack/norrington annoys me. i can't decide what to do with him that doesn't upset my ot3 or get extremely angsty. (i liked the idea of gillette at first; but on further watching i think gillette is not intelligent enough for him. i'm less sure about groves. but i'm still inclined to think him unworthy.)

::GLOMPSyou:: I know. I'm thinking it's because I need him there to be a foil and he can't be a proper foil if they're shagging...it changes the nature of the relationship some and I almost like to keep it more pure, like how you have some friendship fics and you just SCREAM when they pair up...

yeah, exactly. i'd love to see norrington and jack become friends, actually, cause they both are intelligent and norrington could really USE, and certainly deserves, some good banter, the poor baby. and i can honestly see where the j/n comes from because there are all those cute bits in the movie (although it's really not that surprising jack would flirt with the crack naval officer who has a reputation as a pirate killer, y'know?). it just dissatisfies me somehow.

True, but then if Bootstrap's anything like his son, he's not really much of a conversationalist.
Plus, they are both pirates; that he can recognize and has some little motive *not* to hang. He has plenty of reason to converse with them.

it's not that it would be hard to get them into a conversation, it's that they have no canonical relationship. i like canon. it's an excellent foundation for a fanfiction story. the more relevant canon available, the better.

If you really can't stand it, I reckon Groves is the best of the lot (but still inherently inferior) - best-looking, most intelligent.

well, probably more intelligent, definitely best-looking, but not necessarily cutest. you can read gillette as puppyish as opposed to officious, if you wish.
