do newbies give anyone else great pain?

not, like, let's kill all the newbies. but just because i remember being... a painfully earnest newcomer to fandom and. yes. ouch. although i was generally moved to investigate and figure things out on my own rather than asking people, cause i felt silly.

same here. things would confuse me like crazy but i only rarely asked, especially in a public forum. that entry you linked makes me wince. *sigh*
