mostly-mindless recs?

i need something fairly mindless, but not so mindless as to contain grammatical errors or their ilk, to read.  my attention span won't hold for serious emotional plot or serious emotions or funny rhetorical devices or slow paces, and my mood won't stand for serious issues or emotions.  which leaves me where?

recs, anyone?

mercedes lackey, anne mccaffrey-level stuff is what i'm craving.  regency romance type fare.  or classic pros-type stuff.

heh, actually, they're terrible. i loathe lackey. but i loved her when i was nine, so when i'm feeling depressed and braindead, i like to reread her trash sometimes. you know what i mean? comfort food. and yes, i would like to borrow them. i don't know if i can hack patton if what i remember of her is true, but if it's gay i'm willing to give it a try.

you could come see another movie. when wax is working i'm lonely a lot.

the movie idea sounds good, we'll do that.

My comfort readings are "Hollywood wives" and "Hollywood husbands" by that one Collins lady, or "The mistress of Manhattan" or some such from Judith Kranz. And Modesty Blaise!

want to stop by some afternoon? friday, or saturday, or sunday, perhaps? or... i don't know about the schedule after that.
