recs update

i've been saving this update since january. the idea was to finish all the christmas fic fests. indeed, this update contains my (very, very few) picks from yuletide, the harry potter exchange and the lotr rps secret santa, but i didn't finish with the good omens exchange or, hmm, i think there was one more, and the fact i can't even remember what it was is probably a really bad sign, right? anyway, i haven't felt in the mood for much good omens unless it's (a) written by [livejournal.com profile] irisbleu or (b) recommended strongly by [livejournal.com profile] niceandaccurate, so i suppose that will wait a few more months.

this recs update includes:

i've also put in another menu of internal jump-links on the other fandoms page, which was getting a bit long for just scrolling through.

Holy crap. That made me squeak far, far too loudly considering I am in a library. Thank you, Cimorene. You've made my day :)

I don't think you did. I'm sure I would have remembered something as complimentary as that. Although, of course, since I have a mind like a sieve and am often pressed to remember my own name at times, it's entirely possible that I am mistaken.

oh, well, i guess sometimes i mention that and sometimes i don't, so you may be right. (i have a memory like a sieve, at least, if not a mind.)

...I don't think I've read 236 fanfics. Full stop. Ever. Much less in one fandom! XD

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
what! of course you have--how can you not have? i've read all those just in like the last month. of course this fandom runs very much to the short.

Okay, well maybe I have. According to my "what I read last year" entry, I read just under 400 "fics" (though I know several of those were WiPs listed chapter by chapter (including one that was 50 chapters) and many more were RPG scenes.

Last month I read 24 fics (or chapters of fics).

...I don't read a lot. ^_^;;

heee. i read in spates. the month before i started reading these, it was probably more like five or ten in the whole month. but when i come to a new community or archive, i frequently just wade right through everything in it--although i discard a lot of things based on the headers or the beginnings, of course, i don't always read to the end.

Thanks for rec-ing my fic!

hahaha. aren't the thanks supposed to go the other way...?

Echoing the thanks expressed above! I'll be visiting London for two days this weekend, so perhaps I'll find some more ideas floating about. I sort of regret that being on holiday has meant I haven't been writing much, either. I'm going to look at your HP recs because I'm highly curious.

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
well, there are only four of them, so at least your curiosity will be quickly satisfied. :) it's hard to believe it's that few with all the fic i read at that fest, actually.

I will never stop rereading your review of Choice. God. *_*

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-04-13 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
that pleases me. :) actually, i'm kind of proud of it. i'm not always that eloquent about why a story is good.
