wax_jism had never heard of the concept of emergency chocolate. apparently her mother isn't as insane as mine is.
speaking of which, the day before yesterday i got an e-mail from her which she had addressed in the style of the title of the delia's catalog: more or less like "hello dear daRLING cImMIE--". completely by accident. she went on to tell me that she purchased a chainsaw and looked up, on the internet, "what women wear" in paris so as not to be dressed incorrectly as a tourist. "black is always good and scarves are encouraged!" she burbled. "shorts and gym shoes are out for women of my age!" okay,

- lately, in paris, the weather has been about the same as it has here in southern finland, namely, 10 - 15 C. that is to say, about 50 - 59 F. in this kind of weather, my mother thinks it is cold, and makes loud noises of amazement at people who are capable of going out in only a light jacket. trust her to check paris fashion tips to see what to wear (under the illusion that she could ever achieve it) but not the weather.
- was she planning to wear shorts and tennis shoes? it's not like we're going hiking. this is not a day of the survival mountain. we're going to be walking around and among other things shopping in one of the biggest cities in europe. this is my face of horror. i hate to think what she has been wearing when i was not at home to approve her outfits before she left.
