still alive! kind of!

this morning at 6 am i finally finished the story i've been working on for, i think, three weeks now. -.- this story was meant to be short silly crack and turned out instead to be 11,000 words of tezuka angsting. while working on it i've had to take breaks for exams and essay-writing and also more pleasant ones for long bouts of family togetherness, and time for writing has been so scarce that we've fallen behind in every show we watch except veronica mars and doctor who.

i feel like i've been pushing really hard against a door and it finally swung open and dropped me on my face.

now today [livejournal.com profile] anglepoiselamp is coming over for some doctor-who watching and consumption of my double-layered Deadly Chocolate Cake, left over from wax's birthday. there will be more posts forthcoming sometime soon, no doubt, about the family togetherness, the cats looking silly, the music i promised [livejournal.com profile] pixxers, and all the tv we're going to be watching. also, the next couple of stories i need to write.

meanwhile, part of [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism's birthday present from her family was a sweet giant widescreen lcd and part of it was a package that lets us get tv on it (though not cable, sadly), and yesterday we watched both one episode of iron chef (aöklsdföaklsfdjökla why do they dub everyone except that sparkly ringmaster atobe-dude?) and the end of the eurovision contest. people probably noticed that the finnish entry, lordi, won - finland's first win in forty years, and they also broke the record for the single greatest number of votes ever received in the contest. finland's never made it to the semifinals before. we could hear roars of cheering ringing through the house and the streets outside, similar to what happened when finland's events came up in the olympics. even i got quite into cheering by the end and um, accidentally hit my funny bone on the chair. i think it's bruising. o.O

They had a snippet on Lordi on the news here last night. It was the first time I'd seen them and I was all "They should totally win! Hee!" Even though I hate the Eurovision contest normally I'm still so glad they won.

*GLOMP* you're alive! and you've finished your story!

i covet your double-layered chocolate cake of death so much. i may even make an attempt at baking it one of these days, even though my previous baking experience amounts to really simple cookies and plain cake.

well yes, but i still have to write (chronologically) taka/fuji for [livejournal.com profile] pixxers's birthday, i ♥ huckabees for [livejournal.com profile] kyuuketsukirui, and then (not necessarily in this order) some momokai, two tezuryo aus and one angsty tezuryo futurefic with a one-night-stand of tennis and possibly sex.

ps! last year i made the cake of doom with twice the amount of cocoa it calls for accidentally. it's not as deadly (although still quite chocolatey!) with the proper amount. (i changed it in the entry to reflect the correct measurement, though.)
