new prince of tennis fic: "the case of the missing phonecall, or: favourable outcome", tezuryo, pg

the case of the missing phonecall, or: favourable outcome (≈12 300 words)

prince of tennis
tezuka/ryoma, pg
thanks to [livejournal.com profile] bookshop for the title and the original idea, as well as the beta.

in which tezuka and inui form a truce, ryoma shares tezuka's preference for mysteries over gothic romances, and tezuka keeps giving ryoma his phone number.

Oh. My. Goodness. I am so very blown away and am resisting the urge to quote your entire fic at you, because that was love.

Oh, TezuRyo. ♥

Oh, Tezuka, with the slips of paper, and Ryoma, so much with the adoration, and and and.

And it's not just them; all of the other characters are fantastic, too, Fuji with the pepper and the incest in the Gothic romances, perhaps I am reading too much into it, but oh, and the InuKai, and Tezuka not hanging up on Inui ♥ So much stuff I loved in this fic. So much.

But especially this

He took that game, and the next, and then Echizen abandoned his Zone to force Tezuka into tiebreak, and by the time he won Tezuka could hardly breathe from the heat and pressure of seeing and feeling his tennis and Echizen's tennis mated so organically on the court. He knew they could never have played like this at the school or the public courts.

Because their tennis is intimate like that, and you captured it so perfectly and... thank you for writing this, yes, thank you so very much. ♥ ♥

um... hi! i suck at responding to really flattering reviews. but this made me smile a lot and i appreciated all your comments ♥♥ and aölkjfdaösj about the tennis, because, thank you. i hate writing tennis because i have no idea what i'm doing, but i realised i needed to run with the whole tennis=sex thing there at the end.

as for the incest in gothic romances, that was just tezuka's personal comment on wuthering heights. i suppose it's one of many gothic tropes, but i don't think it's a defining feature of the genre. :)
