can the costuming serve some purpose in the harry potter au? XD! possibly japanese wizards--or crazy johnny himself!--doesn't know what the mundanes are wearing in the real world and thus just--makes it up!

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
knowing japanese people, and what we know about canon wizards, i am SURE that japanese wizards would dress in a totally crack-headed manner.

except for jun. he would always be a perfect model of shiny (sparkly) wizard fashion.

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
crackheaded: like arashi costumes. OH JOY. ♥

maybe jun is part muggle? he watches all the fashion magazines for their style tips. XD

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
most arashi costumes are more like normal suits than the wizard ones would be though. the wizard ones would be like the REALLY crack ones that seem to have parts of dresses grafted onto them and stuff.

i'm sure jun's style would be impeccable whether he was part muggle or not, but he might just be too cool to be 100% wizard.

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
i was thinking that the costumes would be the idea of what muggle clothing was like. ♥

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
omg, randomly clicked through your arashi gallery--you have things i haven't seen! oh, ohmiya! also, there needs to be more stories in which ohno carries nino around because nino is a lazy, lazy boy. ♥

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-10-10 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
and because he likes it. a hundred pounds of nino is lighter than a hundred pounds of anything else, because he wants to be carrying it. nino hangs on him a lot, so maybe sometimes he wants to go somewhere, but moving would require risking dislodging nino or worse, giving him the impression he wasn't wanted. so he picks him up instead, no misunderstanding possible!, and carries him along.

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
ahaha! except usually the OMSK pose involves some leaping action of nino's part. ♥

(seriously, cim! your gallery just makes me go AWW OMG and they've been married forever, what with all the stupid matching clothes and the total mutual love. ♥ ♥ ♥)

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
obviously when that happens it isn't the ohmiya sk pose!

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
how have a never seen some of these? especially, like, this one (http://pics.livejournal.com/cimorene111/pic/00as34cc). :o!!! no wonder some things really don't seem that gay anymore! XD plus, oh, ohno's in his glasses! how rare! i want an icon of it. *.*

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
aes showed me that ages ago! it's one of my favourites, but it won't icon well. i've tried extensively, too. that one is so much love! they're so tender and mutually obsessed! like the whole world isn't even there! ohno, sleeping! and all four of their little hands together in a knot of love!

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
possibly i'm easy to please, but this is enough for me. ♥ likely you are the only one who will be seeing it regularly, though. XD! and it really is very, very charming and sweet. it's one of those photos where the tinhat in me gets confused by my innner rationalist.

tinhat: omgtheyareMFEO ♥ ♥ ♥
rationalist: just remember, they probably aren't together in real life!
tinhat: ...but. look at the picture.
rationalist: --they--they really probably--in real life, it's unlikely they are together!
tinhat: ............are you looking at the same picture i am? what other reason is there to cuddly like that?
rationalist: ...a strong and demonstrative platonic affection?
tinhat: ....
rationalist: it's possible! though omg, maybe not likely?

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
pshh, what is a rationalist even doing around here?

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
i have to set myself up for the possibility of being wrong. (hence, the only things i have near-total confidence in are facial recognition when it comes to actors. ^^; very useful skill.)

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
if you're going to take explicit doubt that far (as opposed to keeping it as a background default which it's not necessary to make particular reference to on particular occasions) mightn't you just as well doubt facial recognition too? or the evidence of your own senses? as descartes would say, the only thing you can be really sure of is that you yourself exist (though not, mind, that you possess a physical body). (although he later also went on to say you could be sure there was a god, so.) (philosopher aiba would mock descartes' position. logical positivists class that kind of reflection as "metaphysics!", with disparaging intonation!)

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
perhaps it's less explicit doubt than an explicit understanding at all times that i often state things which are hard to prove? or maybe i've built in a "keep the crazy in check!" so i don't become one of those fans who are really tinhats, who hide away and honestly believe and possibly send creepy letters and candy or something.

and facial recognition is different! obviously there are times when i'm wrong with that, also, but i'm visually oriented, i remember things best by knowing how they look. when i used to memorize music, i would know i had it memorized from the sheet music instead of from rote repetition because i could see the way the sheet looked in my head. and i also am right most of the time when i say something like, "that actor is this person!" (japanese dramas make it easy by hiring the same people over and over again, it's true, though i wouldn't make a claim it if weren't true for other acting things as well.)

possibly i'm just much more likely to feel confident with trivia like actors' faces or voice actors or whatnot because it's something that's possible to know completely and be right about. ahem.

and, ahahah, i like how because i say my inner rationalist/skeptic is very loud, you immediately go, "but then how can you trust your own senses!" only through training, cim! XD

[identity profile] cimness.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
my point isn't that you shouldn't doubt things omg, or that doubting things that you have to guess about is tantamount to doubting that you aren't a brain in a vat. my point is just like... it's always true that you might be wrong about something when you guess; surely you aren't really worried that you might start organising purple candle campaigns? (for the record, i'm sure someone would stage an intervention if that happened.)

the devil's advocate voice, perhaps?

[identity profile] elfiepike.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm not really worried, no. but my skeptical & worst-case-scenario voice is always turned on in such a way that i never think just, "OH, that person was a TERRIBLE DRIVER GRR ARG," i always think, "OH, that person was a TERRIBLE DRIVER GRR ARG--but maybe they are just having a bad day, maybe they have problems i don't know about, it doesn't excuse the bad driving but since no one was hurt really it's fine, it doesn't matter."

like so. perhaps i'm less--setting myself up for being wrong and more setting myself up to not be terribly attached to things that i have no control over, if that makes any sense.
