The Story Of How Pete Wentz Designed This Hoodie

In this picture from the liner notes to Infinity on High, Patrick Stump, lead singer of Fall Out Boy1, is wearing a black hoodie with a gold foil print on it.

Although Patrick wears a lot of hoodies, this isn't exactly his usual colour combination (he's kind of an argyle guy). Pete Wentz is obviously responsible for this hoodie. But if you look closely at this picture, the print on the hoodie is composed of tiny skulls and crossbones, tiny argyle diamonds, and tiny golf flags. The beautiful thing about this hoodie is that it seems to tell a story in itself. The Story Of How Pete Wentz Designed This Hoodie.

I imagine that his train of thought went something like, "Patrick doesn't want to wear my black hoodie with the fucking giant bartskulls all over the sleeves, so clearly I need to make the gold foil print more Patricky if I want Patrick to wear it!" (So far so good, Pete.) "If I'm making a print for Patrick, it should have argyle2! Patrick loves argyle! If I make it argyle, Patrick will wear it!" (But what goes with argyle?) "There should probably be some golf flags in there, too. That would be funny. Golf, argyle, right?" (But it's still missing something...) "And I'll add these little skulls to symbolise my part of our profound and eternal, yet platonic love!"

And Patrick would totally wear it, obviously. Wouldn't you?

1. I can't be bothered to make primers and pimp posts when other people have pretty much already done all the work for me. Here is a Patrick/Pete themed one by [livejournal.com profile] femmequixotic entitled One foot in your bedroom and one foot out the door. Here is a more general Massive Fall Out Boy Pimping Post by [livejournal.com profile] psychodragon82 which has a lot of links at the top and picspam at the bottom.

2. When they met, Patrick answered the door in shorts and dress socks and an argyle sweater.

ahahahahahahahahahahha. I'm thinking that's probably exactly how it happened. It wouldn't be the first time he's designed clothes specifically for Patrick to wear.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Oh, Pete.

The funny thing is that, as un-Patrick as the storm-of-glitter look is, that hoodie is very flattering. It looks better on him than it does on Pete.
