Cake for breakfast, hummus for snacks

Yeah, yesterday was Granny's1 birthday and she sent wax and her brother home with a half-gallon of cream and strawberry cake (four-layered dude) each and had to keep like another gallon of leftover cake for herself that she couldn't fob off on anyone. Reportedly she was like "You guys aren't eating more cake because you ate lunch before you came here!" like the nutcase she is and they were like "Um, Granny, dessert doesn't really work like that?" So I had a ton of cream cake for breakfast.

Then we went to Stockmann and bought some strawberries and HUMMUS, you don't know how exciting this is because you don't know how much I love it and how much I missed it and how much wax pouted the one time I made it fresh, but now you can buy it pre-made! Right here in Turku! Now I can get some pitas and tomatoes and artichoke hearts and make delicious hummus sandwiches.

In sadder news, they had these sleek pleated twill trousers that I was coveting last spring on clearance at Zara for €20 and one of the last green pairs was my size (36 there, because, apparently, Spanish women are super tiny?), but the zip was broken. The top part was fully finished and lined and it looked too complicated to take apart and sew a new zipper in, so I will be forever without them. They looked really great on me. Oh, and I fell in love with these bizarre striped canvas... sneaker boots with little buckles at Andiamo. I can't find a picture, but they looked like the offspring of, say, some Converse with the child of motorcycle boots and rainboots. Under calf-high, a little slouchy, easy pull-ons with black rubber sole, little buckles at the top and another loose strap at the ankle. You can't even imagine how silly my jeans looked tucked in them, although if I had some of those glued-on cigarette jeans they'd probably look better, and admittedly the jeans also went over top. [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism thought they were an abomination, but they so weren't.

1. You might remember her from our mutual feud which started because she hates me. I'm really glad to not be invited to the boring family things that involve her house nowadays actually, and we have a truce so we talk when we're forced to be in the same room.
