I admit to mis-using "literally" on occasion, but in one instance it served me well: I was telling my bf about a particularly gruelling work schedule I'd had, saying "we were literally working 60 hour weeks!" He replied, "how do you figuratively work a 60 hour week?"
I pointed out that in my current job, due to slack attendance I "literally" work around 30 hours a week, but "figuratively" it is a 40 hour week. Hooray for accidental appropriate use of the term! >_>
