cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (k/s pondering)

kirk/spock moment in "mudd's women," 1x04

the dialogue isn't important here but i've included it because (a) i love the technobabble and (b) if you've seen the ep it may be of interest.

SPOCK: the entire ship's power is feeding through ONE lithium crystal.

KIRK: well, switch to bypass circuits.

SCOTTY: we burned them all out when we superheated, captain. that jackass, walsh, not only wrecked his own vessel, but in saving his skin--

KIRK: if it makes you feel any better, engineer, that's one jackass we're going to see skinned.

That is one seriously flirty glance Spock is pulling there, with his hand on his hip in that particular manly and heterosexual manner:D I'm sure he's pouting at one point, too.

spock is MUCH given to the manly heterosexual hands-on-hips pose.

yesterday i took caps from "the enemy within" where he gets very assertive, because jim's been split into nice! and evil!jim, but nice!jim has the assertiveness of a limp, wet tribble. the cuddliness too, but spock's affection is liberally mingled with impatience.

that scene is especially noteworthy in that respect. although they're really like that at least a LITTLE all the time. it's always turning first to spock, *looking* first at spock, and frequently communicating with him entirely by glances. and jim hardly goes anywhere on the ship alone. he'll, like, just jerk his chin a little or even just glance at spock on his way out and spock just falls in behind him. siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

Nnngh.

I really have to start getting into the old ST. My dad used to be a Trekkie and it was the only show I could ever recall him watching when I was a kid. Sadly, I used to make fun of him for it.

Oh, how I choke on my words now.

i was a next gen devotee when i was, oh, eight through thirteen or so. well, it lasted longer than that, i guess. anyway, they weren't rerunning TOS back then. the sci fi network only started about... eight years ago with that. dad used to talk to me about the original one, i saw clips at cons, caught an episode or two on tv, and made fun of him, too (those rocks are styrofoam! they're just spray-painted! etc). generational thing! and besides the [lack of] sfx, it's so *different* from tng. i still love tng, but i love tos more. it suits my personality or something.

Did you have to take these pictures down for space reasons? I mean, I know the later ones must take up loads of space, but I'm sad. I missed these! (Yup, I could've seen them when you first posted them, but I didn't know then the importance of Our Fannish Heritage. Or, more to the point, the Incredible Slashiness of Kirk and Spock. You can bet I'll be paying close attention even to things that aren't my fandoms in the future, though.)

yeah, i've got half the season still there and my lj pics gallery was full. i can upload the episodes again--i still have the directories--but i am not sure exactly which caps the screencaps refer to any longer and i'd have to go back and manually change the links to make the post work, so... yeah.

(when i started this i didn't realise the space was going to fill up.)
