I do have a method for getting rid of hiccups that has worked 99.9% of the time for me, and my mother and sister insist that the .01% was a time I was doing it wrong, because apparently they're at 100%. (I wasn't doing it wrong! I was stunned when it failed.)
Maybe you already have a way, I don't know, but have you ever tried the thing where you drink from the opposite side of the cup? It means you have to tip over forward to get the water (tea, soda, whatever) to your mouth, which somehow, amazingly, works. I suppose it's a variation on the idea of drinking upside down, because it's almost doing just precisely that.
A word of warning if you have never done: Don't forget to not breathe. For some reason when I bend over to drink, I completely forget that one is not capable of inhaling oxygen and water at the same moment. Quite bizarre!
