holy fucking ow sugar bomb brownies

Today I wanted to make best brownies for my boo because she's been feeling low, but I ran out of cocoa powder in mid-recipe. It was too late to reduce the sugar at that point (except by doubling the recipe and I don't have a big enough pan, plus I also ran out of vanilla), so I just substituted hot cocoa mix for half of the cocoa powder.

I mean, I know that cocoa mix is not the same as cocoa, not least because of the sugar and milk powder in it, but I've successfully subbed it in chocolate cake before. What I failed to consider is that Best Brownies are a VERY INTENSELY CHOCOLATEY brownie, and the result was...

...Have you ever eaten SUPER chocolatey icing straight out of a bowl with a spoon? It's kind of like that. They're, er, very sweet. I can't decide if it's awesome or faintly nauseating (also a common reaction to icing by the spoonful!).

Sounds like the brownies should be eaten with strong coffee or tea. Perhaps a nice brandy!

That would work well. Probably coffee. They're a little sugarier than just black tea would call for... unless you're talking black tea made by an English person, perhaps.
