who was talking about reality as west wing rpf?

GAH. I've just scrolled back three days on my flist looking and I can't find it. I give up!

Which one of you darlings posted recently about how Obama and his to-be staff going to the White House is like The West Wing RPF after the fact, because a character from the show was based on Obama and the guy Josh was based on (or the guy Sam was based on?) has been asked to be his chief of staff (unless I've got the details all wrong?) C'mon, correct me!

grapefruithead.com?

So, last week or so grapefruithead.com, the host of a huge number of Sports Night and West Wing stories, was working just fine. And today and yesterday it's gone. Since the main Sports Night archive has also been missing for a long time, this makes it quite difficult to update my bookmarks in these two fandoms. Or rather, it makes it really time-consuming and leaves me with big gaps from the things I can't find hosted anywhere else. Of course, many people's personal sites, for whatever reason, don't turn up as the result of a google search (say, for "title author character character"), which is awfully counter-productive, I think, and results in hunting through livejournal for the name of the site from their userinfo (but only if I know their lj name). It's times like these when An Archive of Our Own would be most useful.

I've moved all the Pirates of the Caribbean recs to my delicious now too. There are just over a hundred of them, with a fair number of Jack/Will/Elizabeth (my ot...3) and a sprinkling of Will/Elizabeth. Most of them are Jack/Will because that was by far the biggest pairing just after the first movie came out, when I did most of this reading, before that first big wave of Jack/Norrington.

Now I'm getting ready to move the Sports Night section and try to hunt down all the West Wing ones (that was one of the first fandoms I read, contemporary with my first ventures out of Star Trek in search of other media fandoms, back in 2001 - and alas, most of the links are broken now). Wax and I are planning to start rewatching at the beginning. It should be an experience, because I was a devotee in high school, long before the era of the dvd box set, and had to try to catch every episode as it came on tv. I never saw the first season in its entirety, and after I went away to college I gradually stopped finding time (mainly due to roommates who wanted to watch Dawson's Creek or some similar horrific bilge), and was reliant on my mother's ability to tape it off of television for me. It should be almost like seeing it for the first time.
