what is the matter with my writing mojo/crazy/loved ones

I feel much happier re: werewolves now (I was all worried my Gothic Soulmate Drama mode was messed up by writing modern voice before) because my ADVENTURE bits came slightly unstuck and yay, I wrote 3400 words today, which is a lot for me still, even though it's not quite as much as it felt like when I was writing it. In less delightful news, we've basically eaten all the cookie cake now. It wouldn't have kept for much longer anyway, though.

My grandfather is going to be here in ten days and I'm starting to get excited about seeing him. We've not talked specifically about what we're going to do - the Turku castle and Aboa Vetus and the art museum on the hill, I think, maybe something in the country. And going out to dinner with wax's mom, if she can make it. He's not actually coming from America JUST to see me; Daddy's step-sister is married to an important army language specialist and stationed in Moscow just now, so they're going to swing by and see me on their way back from visiting her. They're coming by train from St. Petersburg. Trufax: the last week before they left, Grandpa emailed me that he "assumed Finland does not use the Euro". Yeah, cause it's not like it's in Europe or anything. OLD PEOPLE. What are you gonna do?

it's just. not. true.

1. avidemux is the linux video editing software I needed, apparently! I've got all of Don't Eat the Pictures (a 1983 Sesame Street movie set in the Metropolitan Museum of Art) and the beginning of The Phantom Tollbooth (1970 animated movie based on the YA novel of the same title). I'm feeling so inspired recapturing my childhood favourites that I think I will buy Bedknobs & Broomsticks on DVD. (WHAT. IT'S NOT OUT HERE UNTIL THIS NOVEMBER. THIS MOVIE IS FROM 1971. RARRG.)

2. One nice thing about a block of 30 flats (not that I dislike it otherwise) is that you almost never run out of hot water. Like, once in three years.
