a joke about tennis in my research, even if it's not remotely funny! ♥

i've been working on this little paper-presentation on riddles and jokes with animals in them for twelve hours, you know, minus eating and walking the dog twice and walking to and from the library (where i also worked on it). but basically, about twelve hours. it's only three pages. i'm so irritated, i feel like one more molecule of homework will make me explode. however, i still have my finnish to do.

we're supposed to have a quiz tomorrow because the teacher had an attack of bitchiness on thursday, claiming that anyone in the class, if they had read the chapter as assigned, should have instantly been able to produce any word or phrase introduced in it in response to its english translation. i'm sorry, teacher, but not one single person in the class can do that, and there are some really dumb people in the class who are way below the curve. (i couldn't do it and i'd read most of the chapter three times and spent like an hour translating it as i read.)

in an effort to make myself capable of focusing on this remaining homework, i uploaded a selection of the awesomest caps from the first half of ryoma and fuji's first tennis match against each other ♥. god, i could watch them playing tennis for a really long time. it's almost as good as ryoma and tezuka--they're like lion cubs or something. playing. with claws. and loving it. and exchanging barbed comments. [lots of hearts deleted here] and the special effects and fuji's glowing magical ballet!tennis moves!

but it seems like tsubame gaeshi isn't as glowy and swirly as the second one. however, the one in the fly high credits is even more sparkly and glowy, so i guess i have seen all three (unless that one was the mysterious fourth?).

It depends on how it's animated. The one in Fly High is Higuma Otoshi as well; the third counter comes up in ep 63 and is the most gravity-defying of all. I'm sure I remember at least one ep where there was a lot of glowing going on, but it might be later. The fourth counter... only exists in the manga so far; it'll probably show up fairly shortly in the OVAs. Of course, 'fairly shortly' still involves having to wait months, and I am probably completely incoherent here because I have not slept.

oh, see, i thought higuma otoshi had to be made of swirly purple lightning from "duel in the rain" (although i did notice the yellow streaks). but in the fly high credits it's very very yellow. maybe it's like a mood ring!

Barbed comments are the reason I ship Fuji/Ryoma. There's a dangerous edge and just a hint of potential violence whenever they're together, and it's brilliant.

Fuji's tennis moves. They're either really, really cool, or really, really gay. Actually, maybe they're both. :D

i agree completely except i don't ship them. i've read a little, and i could read more (which is way more than i can say for anything else that violates my otps). but i don't need to see them as slashy to enjoy it. i have to admit though, they'd be extremely pretty together.

Well, I don't exactly ship them, but there's some very good FujiRyo fic out there that I enjoying rereading, but it's simply a pairing that would never, ever work. They'd kill each other. I can only write FujiRyo when Tezuka thrown it, yet I've also realised the reason that my Power Triangle fic isn't a true threesome is because I simply can't get Tezuka to be attracted to Fuji, no matter what I do. I'm simply not a Tezuka/Fuji shipper, and probably won't (unless the TezuFuji eps towards the end prerform a miracle on me).

They're whole interaction is entertainment enough. (And Fuji would drive Ryoma crazy, so it's a win-win either way as, yes, they are so pretty together, it hurts).

this almost challenged me to try to think of how it could be and if i could find a way to make it work in my head, but then i decided such a mental trip might be more scary than i liked.

at this point, i can't imagine tezuka ever being attracted to fuji either, but i've seen way less canon than you have, even, so i suppose i have to hold out the distant possibility of being swayed in the future.

and oh, good fujiryo fic? i suppose perhaps i should start looking for it. after all, i'm out of other pairings at the moment.
