1. Computer saga!
Wow! So, I wasn't online yesterday BECAUSE we went to the computer store and foolishly tried to just plug in the new motherboard and processor and memory we bought! OH NO. The biggest obstacle was how it wouldn't boot because of a Linux bug that required Wax to turn off apic before it would stop saying it couldn't find some mystical timer. The second biggest was how the slots for the harddrives were too modern and new-fangled even for my larger hd. This meant there was one plug for the optical drives and harddrives to share. Fortunately, my new DVD burner can do everything my old drives could do (that is, read CDs and burn at least one CD per 5 blanks inserted/take up space), so it was not necessary to plug them in and they are now sitting in the case taking up space, as is the small auxiliary HD. With all the dead parts my computer is sort of like a zombie, but a leaner, meaner, and faster zombie than it was earlier this week. Everything's great now.
2. Lingerie saga!
We learned what Wax's new bra size is at last, since she's lost like 30lb in the last year or so and her boobs have shrunk so most of her old bras don't fit. She is now a 34E/DD (75E in European sizing). This is a kind of unusual size, but she managed to buy two bras, neither of which cost more than €50, which is, let me tell you, a big step up from the last time she had to buy a bunch of bras at once. My own problem is that I'm really a bit too small in the ribcage for 32/70, but Finland doesn't have the concept of "petite" so you can't find a size 30/65 anywhere. Most of the time I just don't wear bras, because I don't really need them, but it's a little perturbing to not have a single one that you can wear under a sweater or tshirt, and I had garments I just didn't wear because they looked bizarre. I found out that I can fit Esprit, now, which is good. And I solved my underwear-that-fit problem: I'm a size 150 kids', which is to say, sized for someone 5 feet tall. Ahahahha.
3. Interior design interlude!
We determined that we are going to keep going with the green Teema bowls and matching sandplatelets wee plates and white Taika big plates. We both agree that matching cups are annoying.
4. Babysitting Today
Then we went to help babysit the noobs and Carmela while their parents were at yet another wedding and OH MY GOD. They didn't come back until past one am, so we were there for like, six hours - two changings, two feedings, three periods of ostensible sleep, and at least three periods of Ciara's and Carmela's ear-splitting shrieks. I was on my feet bouncing - because I am often the only person with the energy to stand and bounce, which is often the only way to make them shut up - for hours and hours. And this was when both of the boys were actually being remarkably good, but there was still constantly stuff for four adults to do. One adult per child actually felt rather strained while Carmela was awake. x.x
