LOL

For those of you who don't care about bandom: this post is about bandom.

So the REALLY hardcore pot-head "retro" half of Panic was Ryan Ross and his wingman Jon Walker. Apparently this is the first leak of their stuff? The first thing I've heard about it anyway. And okay, first of all, they've named themselves The Young Veins. Ahahaha. And here is their leaked tune, which is provocatively called "Change":

The Young Veins, "Change"

...and yes, that is Ryan Ross singing. But while it's a pity he can't sing, it sort of seems to fit. After a few bars, I said "But the Beatles already existed!" (Also "Didn't they 'do' the Beatles on the last album?"). But then I heard the rest. It's more the lovechild of the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel, really.

I like the song, I think, but I feel like it didn't need to be written, if that makes sense. It's just too derivative.

Vaguely disappointed because there's a lot you can do with that retropop style without reliving the 60s.

IAWTC. i was more excited when i thought they were going in more of the "ryan and jon continue to write songs about if one of them lost a hand" direction, to be honest. (the best analysis of it yet, haha.)
