mcu fandom post endgame

Are there any compelling reasons why MCU fandom going forward shouldn't just move into 2012 where Loki has escaped with the Tesseract, Hydra thinks that Steve is Hydra and is probably about to unmask themselves early, and Steve has been tipped off that Bucky is still alive?

By my count this situation is an improvement for pretty much every ship, so. That's where I'd like to hang out.

I actually did read one story that I really liked by Annie D, but these are all obviously pretty large plot threads... it's like we've got all the open space of 2013 Avengers fandom but with extra information about what to fix and what can happen.

Yeeeeeeeees.

I mean, it's become a lowkey meme among my friends that "somewhere it's still 2012 and all the Avengers have their own floors in Avengers Tower".

This morning I was thinking I want to go back to just after Winter Soldier, when everything is possible, and Steve & Sam are looking for Bucky ... that's my happy place. But I do like your idea quite a bit.

I love this idea and I hope that there develops a consensus tag for it on AO3 so that I can be sure to search for that tag!!!!!

What a great AU canon opened up for fanfic writers.

I love it, and also hate it, because it’s no less a paradox than 2014 Thanos getting dusted in 2023 and never returning to 2014. Ah, timey wimey.

Yeah, I've been seeing a fair bit of "oh, it's clear that time travel produces new timelines" but you can travel back without apparently changing dimension or timestream, so uh, sorry, that clearly isn't it either. Stupid paradoxes.

I choose to just not think about it too hard, tbh.

I mean, given that Endgame hangs a lampshade on the absurdity and impossibility of time travel storylines in the movie itself...

As long as we can occasionally visit the part where Thor: Ragnarok at least partly happened so I can have Thor and Bruce together and Loki as the Grandmaster's twink? I just want some of that glorious rainbow sparkle mess in my life. For me it's the Oz to the Kansas that was, like Civil War. Also I'd like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

Basically I want to cherry-pick this the way some Christians cherry-pick the Bible for their favourite bits.
