new yorkers, or people who know something about irish bars:
the bar the characters go to in csi:ny is called "sullivan's." what kind of music is it going to play? is it really an irish bar, or is the name more likely the only irish thing about it? i've never been to any remotely irish bars.

er, but I'm sure most Irish bars are nothing like that!

Music...a lot of modern Irish stuff (e.g., the Pogues, Dropkick Murphys, Black Flag) mixed with the occasional contribution from Springsteen or Mellencamp, for no immediately apparent reason.
not that I hang out in a lot of Irish bars or anything.

is it like rock music that just happens to come from ireland? can i safely say it's a strikingly bad choice of music to tango to?
no subject
And it would be *very* difficult to tango to any of these choices. Though I would certainly like to see Danny try.

ahah, merry little jig tunes i get. but i think i will download a sample nonetheless.
so does danny know the name of the bands they're playing, or the names of the songs even? cause i have this:
and then this:

I think he could. With all that grace and the emphatic body language he uses?

I think he would. If he's spent any amount of time at all hanging out in Sullivan's (and I get the impression he has), he's probably gotten familiar with a lot of the stuff they play. So the two bits you quoted would be totally believable with specific band/song references thrown in.

I, personally, would like to see *any* of them dancing to the Dropkick Murphys.
(notably as they're a Boston-based band, and evidently heavy on the "wheee!riot!" tone of music.)

Anyway, no, it's not exactly tango music. It's...it's get rowdy and happy and sort of...*try* to dance things that have names, but fail miserably, and end up chortling drunkenly on your partner, who doesn't know you, but doesn't care.
If I may direct your attention to their rendition of "Tessie"?

The Spicy McHaggis Jig
Barroom Hero
Far Away Coast
And Flogging Molly, just for the hell of it, although it falls to a very similar genre. Maybe a bit cleaner.
Drunken Lullabies
Devil's Dance Floor
What's Left Of The Flag
My music library is mostly just insane because I so rarely get rid of anything, but I do like almost every kind of music. So I guess if you want to, you can upload a few tracks for me. You know. Surprise me!

the kent that's been stuck in my head this week: stoppa mig juni (http://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=30X3D9MJICH3Z0QYCI0QPSIB6Y)
juanes and nelly furtado - fotografía (http://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=13O9IVQGPP5J40LAFJD16MJ8B6) (in spanish. imo, catchy hook.)
gjallarhorn - kulning (http://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3O9TYFNEUYSSA0X1G47OFKXWUP) i'm not sure if this has any words. it's a lot of that eerie wordless shrieking that she does in "dejelil och lagerman."
esthero - that girl (http://s25.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=047ELV7LN748B2OPXBE78LMXVW) a kind of, um. i actually don't know how to describe this song but it made me fall in love with esthero four years ago.
fiona apple - extraordinary machine (http://s25.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3MQR1KIHOL6XC0W1F621VZ1ZKO). the title track of the unreleased third album. it's awesome! there's not even any drums, the only backup is clarinet and oboe.

secondone-hundered-and-second chance. Thanks, I'll put these on my playlist asap. I was a bit preoccupied with the Manics spammage that grew to be way more complicated than I meant to so it took me a while to get to these.
By the way, does this mean you have more Gjallarhorn songs? That aren't I riden så... or Elgjald. I'd love some more.
