the bar the characters go to in csi:ny is called "sullivan's."  what kind of music is it going to play?  is it really an irish bar, or is the name more likely the only irish thing about it?  i've never been to any remotely irish bars.

Yes. Think a hard rock or punk beat, with the occasional fiddle or merry little jig tune thrown in. It's stuff to get drunk to.

And it would be *very* difficult to tango to any of these choices. Though I would certainly like to see Danny try.

i think danny can tango. he just seems like he could. what do you think?

ahah, merry little jig tunes i get. but i think i will download a sample nonetheless.

so does danny know the name of the bands they're playing, or the names of the songs even? cause i have this:

Danny finishes off his beer, catches Aiden's hand and drags her out of the chair. "C'mon, you should be dancing in a dress like that, show it off. Besides, there's nothing wrong with the music. What, you don't like the ___?"

and then this:

Danny ends up leading her through a kind of sloppy tango to ___, which is the next thing that comes on, and another with a little salsa thrown in to ___ which Aiden starts humming along with halfway through.

I think he could. With all that grace and the emphatic body language he uses?

I think he would. If he's spent any amount of time at all hanging out in Sullivan's (and I get the impression he has), he's probably gotten familiar with a lot of the stuff they play. So the two bits you quoted would be totally believable with specific band/song references thrown in.

*drive by commentary*

I, personally, would like to see *any* of them dancing to the Dropkick Murphys.

(notably as they're a Boston-based band, and evidently heavy on the "wheee!riot!" tone of music.)

i have a feeling a tango to them isn't quite what you had in mind...

Your icon seems to think that I've gone mad.

Anyway, no, it's not exactly tango music. It's...it's get rowdy and happy and sort of...*try* to dance things that have names, but fail miserably, and end up chortling drunkenly on your partner, who doesn't know you, but doesn't care.

If I may direct your attention to their rendition of "Tessie"?

apparently not. at least, well, you could, but it won't do a lot of good because i can't listen to it. a friend uploaded three other songs of theirs for me that i will listen to, uh, soon! but it doesn't matter in the scene, as it turns out. it's supposed to be inappropriate tango music. :)

and you know that's what mac secretly thinks about most people.

Ah, well, I didn't link to anything. "Tessie" was the Red Sox theme, anyway, this past year, so I don't think they'd be playing it in NYC. ;-) Skinhead on the M(B)TA might work. I don't have links to either one, unfortunately. But the latter would be *extremely* inappropriate tango music.

of course, because he's clearly the only *sane* one of the bunch.

it took me three reads to get the red sox-new york thing. ("why not? it wasn't released in new york? ohhhhh.") i'm one of those sports team-impaired people. do you mean "extremely inappropriate tango music" in a good, humourous way, or in a "not in a million years could even danny's hips make this work" way?

ahahahaha. sane. yes, that's one word for it. a much politer one than the one stella prefers, at least, when she's irritated with him.
