the bar the characters go to in csi:ny is called "sullivan's." what kind of music is it going to play? is it really an irish bar, or is the name more likely the only irish thing about it? i've never been to any remotely irish bars.

I think he would. If he's spent any amount of time at all hanging out in Sullivan's (and I get the impression he has), he's probably gotten familiar with a lot of the stuff they play. So the two bits you quoted would be totally believable with specific band/song references thrown in.

I, personally, would like to see *any* of them dancing to the Dropkick Murphys.
(notably as they're a Boston-based band, and evidently heavy on the "wheee!riot!" tone of music.)

Anyway, no, it's not exactly tango music. It's...it's get rowdy and happy and sort of...*try* to dance things that have names, but fail miserably, and end up chortling drunkenly on your partner, who doesn't know you, but doesn't care.
