crime procedurals this week, part 1

I was hoping for more Hotch/Rossi in this week's Criminal Minds. I didn't really get any, but the first scene, at least, was pretty awesome. There wasn't much interpersonal development in this case, aside from Morgan giving Reid his brotherly advice; the rest was given over to Reid's internal storyline. Past instances of that on the show have come out really annoying, but I love Matthew Gray Gubler and his acting, and I also really dig his mom. So all in all, this was a plus. Also... lol, JJ is really pregnant. Come on, CM! More Hotch/Rossi!

In Bones non-news, I love Sweets THIS much. Less expectedly, I actually kind of like his girlfriend. Back to the non-news, the Hodgins/Angela storyline is staggeringly stupid right now.

I love MGG and his acting too, but why are the Reid storylines always like...this? [livejournal.com profile] phemie suggests founding People for the Ethical Treatment of Spencer Reid and I agree.

Old Fandoms call this whumping. Or in Smallville terms, the producers have decided he's a woobie.

As for why... search me, but it's getting old.

Oh hey- I just realized that if I hadn't seen the episode, I might have been bothered by the lack of cut tag in this post. It's not spoilery as such, but if a similarly descriptive post about, say, SPN appeared on my f-list uncut, I'd certainly be annoyed.

I don't think it's particularly descriptive - it doesn't even talk about the themes. I would never consider this type of commentary spoilery - guest star, lack of gay UST, internal character development for Reid. I could see how theoretically some people might be annoyed to have warning of a recurring guest star's reappearance, but a peripheral one with so little effect on the plot? Certainly there's no information here that would change how anyone reacted to the episode as they were watching it. And then there's the fact that it aired two days ago and doesn't even have an active fandom...

I can't watch Bones without thinking of Sweets as grown up Sam Weir from Freaks & Geeks. My affection is undying.
