campus trailer park offers southern feel

documents obtained by the student suggest that there may be an ulterior motive behind the administration's plan to house students in modular housing units. by placing one hundred students in what the documents referred to as "a lower-class trailer park environment," the college may be trying to diminish the perception that [it] is filled with elitist snobs, while at the same time trying to moderate the elitist snobbery that does in fact characterize much of the college community.
conceived in converse's ivory tower by administrators who will retain their twenty room doubles off campus, the plan is not limited to decreasing the quality of [college] housing. in its later phases, the plan calls for old pick-up trucks to replace the college's fleet of mini-vans and a mandated increase in floorcest. ...
"we were shocked to find that the perception outside of [the] college is that the college is a stuck-up institution for rich white boys, with hyphenated last names," said shac member john quigley in one memo to the administration and faculty, written in liquid gold on the finest silk fabric.
the administration reliazed that placing students--many of whom grew up with their own wing and servants' quarters--in trailers without some warning could be dangerous. it charged shac members with running a campaign to convince students that the trailers will in fact be liveable.
"we know that they will suck, but we figure with good propaganda we can convince people of anything," said shac member erik dinardo 03. "we are mostly talking about freshmen after all."
..."like dean boykin-east said, it will really be a wonderful year to be a sophomore!" said one prozac-popping rising sophomore, summing up the opinion of the sophomore class.
