high point: mary fraser throws her arms around holmes in an OH THANK YOU! moment and he makes the most hilarious, fastidious face, and carefully disentangles himself.
other slashy points: the comfortable domesticity of the end scene: watson says he's not sure he's comfortable with h. being judge and prosecutor. h. laughs at him. they exchange silent looks; w holds out a moment longer, then says it's lucky holmes is unique.
low points: the dead guy's face... ew. the introductory sequence: boring.
a fun episode that lets you follow along and solve the mystery with holmes. watson gets a lot of reaction shots of bemusement. (what are we doing NOW? we're going to the shipyard, of course. ...oh, of COURSE.)(watson, search the carpet. for what? for wax. ...of course. for wax.)
also the guest star, the female one that is, was very beautiful.
one of these is really cute! and one shows off his eyelashes!

watson examining the body of the unfortunate baronet. he's never seen anything like the force of this blow to the head.

holmes examining the fireplace poker.

mary brackenstone, nee fraser, giving testimony.

holmes's face is thoughtful as he listens to her story. many shots of him blinking and pursing his lips in silence.

the three glasses. those are what puzzle him and the single flaw in the lady's story.

they get off the train halfway home and catch another back to the abbey.

holmes in animated mode, watson struggling to follow.

confronting the sailor and demanding the full truth.

a case well-solved always leaves you wanting a good stretch after.

h. & w. drink together. watson is about to say that it's a good thing holmes is unique.
