Democratic front-runner Howard Dean says his decision as governor to sign the bill legalizing civil unions for gays in Vermont was influenced by his Christian views, as he waded deeper into the growing political, religious and cultural debate over homosexuality and the Bible's view of it. "The overwhelming evidence is that there is very significant, substantial genetic component to it," Dean says. "From a religious point of view, if God had thought homosexuality is a sin, he would not have created gay people."

Finally, someone using religion in support of gay rights in a political context. <3 that man, never mind that he can't control his mouth sometimes.

Me too. And hopefully my PA absentee ballot will actually arrive this time. College students living in dorms can't register to vote in the state they're living in, as far as I know, on grounds of it not being a legal permanent residence.

Be careful about registering at school, in DC voter registration = able to be called for jury duty. I know a couple people who actually ended up having to do it.

He's a New England Congregationalist, his wife is Jewish, and he's a firm believer in the separation of church and state. I remember him answering a question about it at one of the debates... I think it was the Planned Parenthood Candidates Forum... yep! Check it out at http://deancore.blogspot.com/deanvideo.htm The religion question came up in the lightning round at about 50:00:0, I think.

That doesn't matter in Massachusetts, though. You can get called for jury duty anyway. I did, and I never tried to transfer my registration.
