cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (smile)

i did quite a bit of reading today, but not much else, because i planned to do it at night, and i assumed carolyn (who drives me to greenfield for the dancing) had fallen off the face of the earth. however, i ate dinner early on a whim, and she called at 6:20 wanting to get me at 7:20. cool. showered, pinned up hair and wore new purple college shirt with sleeves chopped off. it was unseasonably warm, which is to say, i didn't shiver too much, though i overestimated temp and wore a too-light sweater. (it was, hm. 50s?) anyway.

we danced only from about 8:00 till 10:30, and i think i only did four dances, not counting two icky square dances (fucking crossover callers). so fucking annoying. however, i seem to be improving each time. this time was even more fun. i had one fanTAbulous partner even better than the best i'd had before. he was witty and playful, and quite a good teacher. we discussed different kinds of swinging, somewhat, and we did most of them; and he gave me a push out of every swing to spin around an extra time going into the hey-for-four. me: why do we always get done with the 'hey's early? him: because we're good. me: that must be it. him: *spinning me into a ladies' chain* no, it really is.

then got in one of those hysterically funny situations where some idiots fall out once and the whole set/line of dancers is screwed up for the rest of the dance. i laughed, while dancing, for about fifteen minutes straight.

there were also a lot of new people and several adorable lesbian couples. i danced with half of one of them the first dance. she was inexperienced at it, so i had to be the guy, which of course i'm not used to, so we got a bit screwed up towards the end. she blushed. also, she laughed and seemed just very ingenuous. and awfully earnest in the end when she thanked me. heeee.

also saw carolyn giving her phone number to The Guy that she always meets there. heheh.
