my ipod has departed alaska.  i guess it's on either a plane or a truck somewhere.

cleaning/moving furniture today had a slight dust-up when it seemed the (quite low-brow, only 15" and 1220x768) monitor to our only 1.5-year-old dell had died.  it turned out a cable got loosened, and all is now hunky-dory.

my throat still hurts and i've been chugging tea with lime and honey like crazy, and i bought some clinique face stuff and some clean and clear face stuff and my face feels wonderfully clean, and has stayed that way for hours, which it never does.

dude, packing is hard

i like ian thorpe, but i hate the way the announcers keep calling him "the Thorpedo."  shut the motherfucking bleeding fuck up, you brain-dead idiots.  michael whatsit is cute and not more than a little over the line of how much musculature i find pleasing to the eye, but there's just something... his claim that he wants only one medal seems disingenuous, but i could be reading into it.  he didn't seem as upset by the lower ones as others, perhaps, like australia in the relay, or us women's gymnastics (ouch.  but go romania!  the announcers' bias was really starting to wear towards the end.)

Every time the guy said "Thorpedo" I couldn't help but make strangling noises. GAH.

Now, I hate Ian Thorpe, but why do you hate that everyone (and I do mean everyone, not just commentators) call him the Thorpedo?

You think you're sick of the media fawning over "Thorpey"? I can't say this in public, cause it'd be an act of treason, but... aargh. let him swim, then let him shut up.

[you should have seen the public furore when he fell off the starting block in the qualifying race for the 200 freestyle [i think]; after a few days, the guy who won gave Thorpe his place.

I mean, he's a great swimmer, and a good part time model; but it's not like he cured the common cold or anything.

*blinks* I'm weird? Well, yes, I am. But any particular reason?

No, not you; [unless you are, as you say] I meant the coincidence. or the timing.

I'm sure I meant something, but you've only got my word for it.

ahhaha. i saw a clip of falling off the starting block. he seems, in the clips i saw, to be something of an asshole. i can't really blame him for having that awful ego, if all is as you say. however... he IS nice to look at. esp. with his hair up, cause i'm not into the blondes.

I think he'd probably be a kinda nice guy, if he hadn't been touted as 'Our Lord And Saviour Of the Pool Because We Obviously All Sucked Without Him, And No, We Aren't Mentioning Any Other Australians Who Could Swim Ever' since he was 15 or something.

And there's his worrying habit of wearing pearls.

yes... when he's being all model-boy... i think it was in some kind of a veil? it was terribly amusing and didn't really support his "I'm so straight" cause.
yeah, a lot of the swimmers seem "friendly"... I can't wait for Geff Huegill myself, he's a beautiful beautiful butterflier... cute, wet and in lycra... hmm. I think there are slashers on the IOC.
