lily's favorite game when wax isn't here is "let's drive cim crazy". tonight's version involved disappearing completely for ten or five minutes, appearing to say MRAH very meaningfully and urgently, and leading me away like lassie pointing the way to little timmy down the well, only to lose interest and wander off about 5 seconds after i left my chair. i made a few half-hearted grabs and she dodged.
so last time i was determined i was going to catch her. she went under the bed. i can't crawl there, but must slither on my belly. it took like two minutes, but i cornered the little blighter in the corner by the wall... and then she darted away. cue five minutes slithering out backwards. then i looked around and... she was back in the same place.
so i jumped on the bed, peeled up the corner of the mattress and looked between the slats at her. "hi," i said.
"dude," she said, "the bed comes apart? OOF." because i had reached between the slats and grabbed her around her tiny little ribcage. i pushed a slat sideways, scooped her up and held onto her firmly.
for about five minutes. it's hard to type with a squirming cat in your arms.
but maybe she'll wait an extra long time before the lassie act now.
