cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (Default)

i'm sick of the numbers on my username, which are what i came up with when i first got an aim name at age 13 and "persephone" was, to my astonishment, already taken.  i'm thinking of buying a name-change token.  short of massacring paying off the people who currently have [livejournal.com profile] cimorene and [livejournal.com profile] cim (i don't want to pay them off! i dislike them on principle!), i'm slightly at a loss.  at the moment my idea is "cimthing".  but maybe it really would be worth it to try to pay one of the others off.

Perhaps you could alter the spelling a bit? cimorine? cimoreen? cimorenee?

Though it just occurred to me that I may be pronouncing it incorrectly.

Just recently I read the first two books of that series again. They are still love.

And while I understand your POV, from mine, you'd seem sorta naked without the 111. I was thinking perhaps you could use "Princessa" but the person who's got that name has made TWO POSTS in the last five years. OMFG. Lame.

So I, uh, have no good suggestions at all. :x

How about [livejournal.com profile] princess_cim? Short enough and not taken.

that's how i pronounce it. i don't want to change the spelling as in, like, "traditional spellings are boring" changes because it's the name of my favourite fictional heroine. although i actually was thinking about something like "cimmeh" or "cimmmh" or "cim_oh_rene"--as in some kind of lame pun or joke (because i can't think of a clever pun or joke, obviously those are preferable).

heh. well, most of the time i see cimorene without the numbers--in chat, at my website, people's recs, that kind of thing. also, after ten years i am just sick of the numbers. also, i hate usernames with numbers. stabination!

i'm sure if i looked i could find some variant of 'princess', but i consider that the less significant part of the alias, y'know?

oh hey, if you type an lj user thing that doesn't exist now, it doesn't give that "bad username" error in your markup anymore--handy.

i'm still considering the princess bit. i'm not sure if i want to include it in the actual username or not.

I like Grace's idea. I know how you feel, though - the person who has [livejournal.com profile] mirabella is a freakish pro-Ana gothy teen of the worst description who never updates her LJ. I don't know whether to be aghast or amused at the idea of people thinking she's me.

[livejournal.com profile] cimorene has as her second to last post that she's switching journals. i'm kind of actually considering e-mailing her and asking if she'd be willing to delete, which would then make the name available for namechange tokens. like in exchange for buying her a namechange token or something.

i don't know about the "princess" part, though. i might be getting tired of it. it's kind of cutesy or something; i'm afraid of discovering i hate it in a few years and being stuck with it forever.

Threaten to drive over them with a tractor, then shellac them.

That usually gets results.

Since both [livejournal.com profile] cimorene and [livejournal.com profile] cim are dead journals with real email addresse attached, I can't see what you have to lose by emailing them. Also, I'm not 100% sure how the namechange tokens work - does her old journal name become available to you if she changes it or only if she deletes the journal outright?

yeah, it's only if you delete it. but she seems to say she's setting another journal up elsewhere. if she's really moved house, she... well, then she probably wouldn't want the token, but i guess she might. or some paid time or userpics or something.

That sucks.

Someone owns [livejournal.com profile] mmwd, too, and has for years. I don't think I actually want to change, but if I did, GRAR. They're not using it.
