Ahahahaha. You're close. He deliberately risks his shoulder in order to play Ryoma on their first date. He injures his shoulder, not quite as a direct result, but later. More dramatically. You'll see. It is The Reason why I love Tezuka so hard. :((

AND YES. THEY STARE AT EACH OTHER LIKE THEY ARE THE ONLY TWO PEOPLE ON EARTH.

It's like this. Bus pulls up, and we hear the voiceover:
"Hey, hey, Echizen, don't cry when you see Buchou."
*mutter* "I'm not going to cry."
The others get off the bus. Ryoma follows and is still on the bus steps when he stops and freezes and stares. Momo bumps into him from behind and is like, 'hey, Echizen, move' but Ryoma is frozen where he stands. TEZUKA IS THERE. LOOKING AT HIM. And then we see the others who are also staring, but Tezuka is looking only at Ryoma. God. ls;adjflkdsj.

And actually, they do almost an exact repeat of this pattern when Tezuka comes back from Germany. Momo, Eiji, Ryoma are standing around training camp. Tezuka appears. They freak out. Momo grabs Ryoma around the neck and, like, pinches him - which could be read as Momo pinching him to make sure they aren't dreaming, and could also be read as Momo being like, "YOU'RE BOYFRIEND'S BACK." Ryoma's like *grumble* "what are you doing?" but then he (and the others) run up to Tezuka.

And then asdkjf. I wish I were home so I could screen-cap this for you.

Momo and Eiji are standing next to Tezuka, behind Ryoma, and they're all saying stuff about how Tezuka's back, good to see him, blah blah blah - I don't even know and I seriously doubt Tezuka does either because he and Ryoma are STARING AT EACH OTHER AGAIN. Tezuka's not even looking at Momo and Eiji, he's just smiling down at Echizen who's smiling up at him.

And then Tezuka and Ryoma proceed to stalk each other and obsess over each other for the remainder of the training camp, and we have the Jealous Boyfriend Arc of Love. *_*
