i finished john betancourt's
johnny zed. since i cannot for the life of me remember what he's actually famous for, i probably haven't read any of it, so can't be CERTAIN, but--it has very much the flavor of an early effort. not such a great novel, but i think it'd make a fabulous screen play. who plays
chloe on
smallville? she'd be perfect--just have to dye her hair a few times. (er, not as johnny--the protagonist is actually a woman, shelly tracer.) thought it was going to be cyberpunk. it wasn't. it was about an attempt at overthrowing the u.s. government, which is in severe need (in the book! i mean. although now too, but maybe not as badly) of overthrowing. and it had a lot of those back-and-forth mindfucks. you don't know who to truuuust! it actually read a bit like a screenplay sometimes, because there's a fair amount of action that just doesn't play out properly on the pages of the book.
next up is an attempt at
dune, which thank god is in paperback, and not autographed or anything.

southpaw526's website. she's the only person i know who can work on the same very short story for six months. actually, i think she may've scrapped it and started a different one. ::wanders away again::
