in search of secret het otp fic
4 May 2003 01:52 ami knew i remembered reading a scotty/uhura (also k/s, sulu/chekov). but goddammit, i think it's the only one i've ever read and it's really... not that great.

oh, because you're stupid!
4 May 2003 02:20 amto achieve unparalleled heights of stupidity, tonight on trading spaces we saw hildy (sp?) paint a carpet brown.
no, really.
to top it off, the homeowners didn't seem to mind.
mental notes (whoo, look at the list):
-write the end of that daniel radcliffe/elijah wood thing and don't be afraid of smut, for god's sake. the horse has left the barn.
-re-read jumper and wildside by steven gould (which mutant powers would you want?).

on the contrary, doctor
4 May 2003 08:23 pmhoward's end makes a pretty good movie out of what i suspect is a much more annoying book. i remember someone famous (but i don't remember who) said of e.m. forster that 'the kettle's on, but there's not going to be any tea.' it's so, so true. but he was less annoying than a passage to india partly because it was shorter and partly because of the cast. it's so fun to call helena bonham carter's characters insane. and you can do it while worshipping her hair! (
leyenn, i was always absolutely enthralled with deanna's too.) and anthony hopkins and emma thompson as a pairing sounds kind of exciting. unfortunately they seem to have no chemistry. but they're both very good anyway. they make sitting en deshabille together in bed look casual and frankly a little boring. (unlike helena's, emma's hair was not very inspiring.) i like period costumes even when they're sort of mediocre, as they seemed to be here.
it's been blisteringly hot today and i can't find children of dune in the hardback or paperback sf. it's strange how being angry can translate into trying to do housework. alas, it was rather too hot to, say, bend over at the waist and pick bits of paper out of the carpet. it seems (contrary to physical laws) hotter on the floor. it's a sign of my state of mind that it took a few minutes to realize why the term 'pear-shaped' would be in 'diamonds are a girl's best friend.' and if anyone wants it i'm selling my family, cheap. i can't afford to pay you to take them or i would.

cim thing: i have a Secret Het OTP but as far as i know there's only one story for it in existence.
cim thing: isn't that amusing?
guinevere33: that is, in fact, hilarous
cim thing: did you ever see the masterpiece of unintentional hilarity that is STV: Spock Has A Crazy Brother?
guinevere33: i'm afraid not
cim thing: well, there's a bit with scotty and uhura apparently chasing each other around the empty ship in some kind of kinky sex thing. there's a lot of middle-aged overweight giggling.
cim thing: not a plotline, no development, just kind of a background occurrence. recall this movie was conceived, cowritten and directed by Da Shatner.
cim thing: anyway, how sad is it when more than half of your canon support is THAT? it's very sad. very sad.
